Note:
The area now known as Paradise, California was originally settled by Maidu tribes who lived there during the summer and fall.
After the gold discovery of 1848 prospectors came to the area, and lumber mills were subsequently established. After railroad
service reached Paradise in 1904, innovative agriculture became the predominate activity. The Town of Paradise was incorporated
on November 27, 1979. The origins of the town's name are uncertain, although several stories have been handed down over the
years.
